Dave
Ward, owner of Photography by Ward, has been passionate about
photography for over 20 years. Besides his expanding commercial
business he is actively pursuing some of his personal photography
projects in his spare time.
Dave writes
... "My company
Photography by Ward is an established general
commercial photography
business with a special focus on jewellery
photography.
For me
photography is not just about a career but is also a passion and a
pastime,
embracing Cumbrian landscape images, fine art photography and
personal studio work.
I've been
a professional photographer
since
leaving college in 1989 and in addition to commercial advertising
photography I've
also been both a medical and a forensic photographer with the Forensic
Science Service in London.
I am Professionally
accredited
by
the British Institute of Professional Photography, this is done on
merit by
portfolio and my portfolio was shortlisted for, and later won, their
annual best panel of licentiate submissions award. This was of
particular satisfaction as it meant my work was considered by a panel
of experienced professional photographers to be the best overall
against a field of 151 other professional photographers.
In addition
two of my
jewellery photographs were awarded Certificates of Merit in the 2007
BIPP awards Commercial Photography category. They are shown on my home
page.
I've been in business
in Cumbria since
2003, successfully establishing a reputation for high
quality effective work.
For years I've
taken fine art photographs both
inside and outside the studio and the surroundings of Cumbria do
provide a great source of images. My creative photography
exhibition called “A Floral Dream” appeared
in venues
around Cumbria including The Brewery Arts Centre,
Brantwood and Farfield Mill and was well received.
I love my
subject and I'm
always keen to share knowledge about
photography. I am a member of a local Fine Art Photography group and we
meet regularly to talk photography and take photographs.
I have run
evening courses on taking photographs.
I also write
photographic articles for business newspapers and
specialist magazines
eg The Craftsman's Craft & Design publication on the subject of
photography for business and have started to put photography-related
advice on my commercial website.
Continual
investment in professional level
digital
equipment and software and continual updating of my professional
skills
(to say nothing of continual striving for the perfect result) ensures
that the highest quality
of service is provided at all times."
